Experience an unforgettable expedition that combines the comfort of the lodge with an authentic night of camping in the heart of the Amazon, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle and unique biodiversity.
Day 1 – Arrival & First Jungle Adventure
Reception at the airport or your hotel in Iquitos. Transfer by car to the port, followed by a
scenic 3.5-hour boat journey along the Amazon and Tahuayo Rivers to Amazon Tahuayo
Paradise Lodge.
Enjoy a welcome drink made from local fruits before checking into your private bungalow
or cabin. After lunch and a short rest, begin your first Amazon adventure.
Afternoon Activity (3:00 PM):
Guided jungle walk to search for monkeys, sloths, giant water lilies, and other rainforest
wildlife.
Dinner: 7:00 PM
Night Excursion:
Boat excursion to search for caimans, frogs, snakes, and other nocturnal wildlife while
enjoying the sounds of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 2 – Poison Dart Frog Expedition
Breakfast: 8:00 AM
Spend the day exploring the Ceiba Trail, one of the best places to search for the Amazon’s
colorful poison dart frogs, including Ranitomeya uakarii, Atelopus, Ranitomeya
ventrimaculata, and Ranitomeya reticulata. Along the way, observe a variety of birds such
as the Green-backed Trogon, Pavonine Quetzzal, motmots, and many other rainforest
species.
Dinner: 7:00 PM
Night Activity:
Choose between a boat excursion, jungle walk, or canoe trip to search for caimans, bats,
nocturnal birds, and other nighttime wildlife.
Day 3 – Primates & Piranha Fishing
Breakfast: 8:00 AM
Explore the flooded forest in search of the pygmy marmoset, the world’s smallest monkey,
along with other Amazon wildlife.
Lunch: 1:00 PM
In the afternoon, enjoy a traditional piranha fishing excursion on the Tahuayo River.
Dinner: 7:00 PM
Night Excursion:
Boat ride to spot caimans, bats, nocturnal birds, capybaras, and other wildlife.
Day 4 – River Exploration
Breakfast: 8:00 AM
Enjoy a peaceful canoe excursion along the Tahuayo River while observing birds and other
wildlife.
Lunch: 1:00 PM
In the afternoon, explore remote waterways in search of the giant river otter, one of the
Amazon’s most charismatic mammals.
Dinner: 7:00 PM
Night Activity:
Choose between a boat excursion, jungle walk, or canoe trip to discover the Amazon after
dark.
Day 5 – Amazon Sunrise & Departure
Optional Sunrise Excursion (5:30 AM):
Experience the breathtaking Amazon sunrise while enjoying birdwatching along the
Tahuayo River.
Breakfast: 8:00 AM
Take a final walk through the Igapó flooded forest, searching for howler monkeys, pygmy
marmosets, owl monkeys, the prehistoric-looking Hoatzin, and other fascinating wildlife.
Lunch: 1:00 PM
After lunch, depart by boat and vehicle for your transfer to the airport or your hotel in
Iquitos.
