Experience the excitement of Peacock Bass Fishing in the Peruvian Amazon with
Amazon Tahuayo Paradise. Travel deep into the rainforest near Iquitos and explore
the remote lakes, tributaries and dark waters of the Tahuayo River, where the
powerful peacock bass—locally known as tucunaré—can be found.
A Unique Amazon Fishing Adventure
Peacock bass fishing is an unforgettable experience for anglers looking for
adventure in a wild and peaceful environment. This species is admired for its
strength, speed and aggressive strikes, making every catch an exciting challenge.
Our fishing excursions take place in natural areas surrounded by primary
rainforest. As you navigate through lakes and narrow waterways, you may also
encounter monkeys, sloths, colorful birds, caimans and pink or gray river dolphins.
Fishing at Amazon Tahuayo Paradise is not only about the catch; it is a complete
immersion in the biodiversity of the Peruvian Amazon.
The Best Season for Peacock Bass Fishing
The recommended season for peacock bass fishing in the Tahuayo River is
generally from June to October. During this period, lower water levels provide
better access to lakes and fishing areas where tucunaré and other Amazonian fish
are commonly found.
Weather and river conditions can vary every year, so each expedition is planned
according to the season and the local knowledge of our guides.
Fish With Experienced Local Guides
Our local guides know the rivers, lakes and fishing areas of the Tahuayo region.
They accompany guests throughout the journey, helping them identify the best
locations and understand the behavior of Amazonian fish.
In addition to peacock bass, anglers may find piranha, paco, sábalo, acarahuazú,
arowana and other freshwater species. Because wildlife encounters cannot be
guaranteed, every fishing day becomes a genuine exploration of the rainforest.
